The schoolhouse was built in 1878 and held classes for nearly 80 years until 1957. It remained vacant for several years until the Town of Niagara Historical Society purchased it in 1980.

This was the classic "one-room school house" but it actually had a few closets and storage areas plus the non-attached outside bathroom, which still is present onsite.

The inside of the museum is setup like a classroom would have been at the turn of the century. Student desks with inkwells, pens, and books, American flag at the front of the room, blackboard, and dunce cap.

The museum is open on Sundays June-September from 2-5PM. Other times it is open for special tours and for field trips.
