Un pont de pierre, près des ruînes d'un moulin, sur le Verdon, à Thorame-Haute. De l'herbe pousse sur le pont qui ne peut être emprunté que par des piétons.

FR Le Pont du Moulin est un pont sur le Verdon bâti entre 1685 et 1688 par Eustache Ventre,maître maçon du village voisin de Colmars sur la commune Thorame-Haute (Alpes-de-Haute-Provence). Il classé monument historique par arrêté du 25 mars 19771. Construit sur deux arches très inégales de 17 et 9 mètres, pour une longueur totale de 41 mètres, sa hauteur varie d'environ 2.8 m pour la petite arche à 9 m pour la grande.

Ce pont présente un intérêt architectural qui lui a valu de figurer sur de nombreuses illustrations et cartes postales. Raymond Collier (archiviste et historien français) note qu'il est exceptionnel pour l’époque de sa construction.

Aujourd'hui le pont est dans un état pour partie dégradée, mais les voûtes sont bien conservées. Il est toutefois dangereux de l'emprunter car sans protection et en partie effondré côté amont. En dépit de son classement, il n'a plus été entretenu depuis longtemps. Il ne dessert aujourd'hui qu'un petit sentier qui permet d'accéder à la montagne de Serpeigier.

Il tire son nom du moulin presque attenant aux origines probablement antérieures au xviie siècle. Un foulon y était également implanté. Il n'en subsiste que des ruines.

Localement, on le nomme différement :
  • "Pont romain", sans qu'il soit possible de dire si un ancien pont romain l'avait précéde
  • "Pont de Serpeigier", du nom de la montagne à laquelle il donne accès
  • "Pont de la Fabrique", puisque s'y trouve à proximité immédiate un ancien moulin à farine qui fut transformé en scierie puis en fabrique de meubles au xixe siècle.
  • "Ancien pont d'Ondres" (Alpes-de-Haute-Provence) en référence au hameau de la commune dont l'accès se faisait par un chemin sur la rive gauche du Verdon aujourd'hui disparu emporté par le Verdon.

EN The Pont du Moulin is a bridge over the Verdon built between 1685 and 1688 by Eustache Ventre, master mason of the neighboring village of Colmars in the commune Thorame-Haute (Alpes-de-Haute-Provence). It was classified as a historical monument by a decree of 25 March 1977.1 Built on two very uneven arches of 17 and 9 meters, for a total length of 41 meters, its height varies from about 2.8 m for the small arch to 9 m for the large.

This bridge is of architectural interest and has been featured on numerous illustrations and postcards. Raymond Collier (archivist and French historian) notes that it is exceptional for the time of its construction.

Today the bridge is in a partially degraded state, but the vaults are well preserved. It is however dangerous to borrow it because unprotected and partly collapsed upstream side. Despite its ranking, it has not been maintained for a long time. Today it only serves a small path that leads to the Serpeigier mountain.

It derives its name from the mill almost adjoining the origins probably before the seventeenth century. A fuller was also established there. Only ruins remain.

Locally, it is called differently:
  • "Roman bridge", without it being possible to say whether an ancient Roman bridge had preceded it
  • "Serpeigier Bridge", from the name of the mountain to which it gives access
  • "Pont de la Fabrique", since there is in the immediate vicinity an old flour mill that was transformed into a sawmill then into a furniture factory in the nineteenth century.
  • "Old bridge of Ondres" (Alpes-de-Haute-Provence) in reference to the hamlet of the commune which access was made by a road on the left bank of the Verdon now disappeared carried away by the Verdon.
