Menara Kuala Lumpur - Alternative names: KL Tower - Kuala Lumpur Tower - Telecom Tower Kuala Lumpur: The Tower stands at 421 metres, above ground, 515 Meters above sea level, overlooking the City Center of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

The KL Tower telecommunications and broadcasting tower, actually appears to be taller than the Petronas Towers, when viewed from the City outskirts, because it is built on a hill. The Menara Kuala Lumpur (KL Tower) stands 515m above sea level.

It's a joke, and everybody knows, that the Petronas Towers are the Tallest buildings in Kuala Lumpur & Malaysia. To prove it I took the default photo from the 86th floor of the Iconic Petronas Twin Towers.

The KL Tower features a Revolving Restaurant, Indoor, & Outdoor Observation Decks, where you get a stunning bird's eye view of the city.(Subject to heat haze)

XD Theatre:
A a 6D motion simulated thrill ride for ages 6 and above.

Blue Coral Aquarium:
Colourful clown fish, sharks and other tropical sea creatures are on display in this coral-filled aquarium.

KL Tower claims to house the highest McDonald's in the World.

"Menara Kuala Lumpur ranks fourth amongst the tallest telecommunications towers in the world and was constructed over a period of four years and completed in May 1996. Menara Kuala Lumpur is designed to withstand wind pressures of up to 90mph.
Menara Kuala Lumpur (officially) stands majestically atop Bukit Nanas (Pineapple Hill) at 421 meters and 94 meters above sea level, is one of the first and perhaps most enduring images a visitor to KL will encounter." Text Source: (visit link)

"The structure can be divided into 5 basic sections: The Foundation Base - houses 3 basement floors for safety needs, storage and maintenance work. The Touristic Building - bears the administration office, souvenir shops and the 146 metres pedestrian mall with cascading pools. The Tower Shaft - comprises 22 levels with 4 elevators and 2058 step flight of stairs. The Tower Head - holds the public observation platform (276m) and revolving restaurant as well as the telecommunication and broadcasting stations. The Antenna Mast - crowns the tower and specially utilised for telecommunication and broadcasting transmissions.
• In constructing Menara Kuala Lumpur, the builders took special care to construct a retaining wall around a 100 year old Jelutong tree (Dyera Costulata).
• Menara Kuala Lumpur was officially opened by the Prime Minister on 1 October 1996.
• The main lobby of the upper ground floor is decorated with exquisite glass-clad domes that sparkle like giant diamonds and the domes were designed and arranged in the form of the Muqarnas by Iranian craftsmen from Isfahan.
• Approximately 50,000 cubic metres of concrete were continuously poured for 31 hours thus setting a record in the Malaysian construction industry.
• To conserve the tree's position, the Tower was moved at a cost of RM430,000 to avoid felling the monumental tree, which is found near the pedestrian mall.
• The tower will also cover services linked to the Marine Department, the Meteorological Department and the Traffic Control Department.
• On 13 September 1994, Prime Minister, YAB Dato Seri Dr Mahathir Mohamad performed the Topping-up Ceremony where the Antenna Mast was installed, thus marking the final height of the tower, 421 metres above the ground.
• Menara Kuala Lumpur is the fourth tallest telecommunication tower in the world (after CN Tower, Canada, Ostankino Tower, Russia and Shanghai Tower, China). Built to enhance the quality of telecommunication services and the clarity in broadcasting, Menara Kuala Lumpur also stands to be the symbol of Kuala Lumpur, the Garden City of Wondrous Lights."
