St. Simon
Simon Petrus (* in Galiläa, Datum unbekannt; † um 65–67, möglicherweise in Rom) war nach dem Neuen Testament einer der ersten Juden, die Jesus von Nazaret in seine Nachfolge berief. Er wird dort als Sprecher der Jünger bzw. Apostel, erster Bekenner, aber auch Verleugner Jesu Christi, zweiter männlicher Augenzeuge des Auferstandenen (Joh 20,3–6 EU) und als einer der Leiter („Säulen“) der Jerusalemer Urgemeinde dargestellt. Hinzu kommen deutlich spätere Notizen bei diversen Kirchenvätern, wonach er erster Bischof von Antiochia sowie Gründer und Haupt der Gemeinde von Rom gewesen und dort als Märtyrer hingerichtet worden sein soll.

Im Inneren der katholischen Dorfkirche zu Neuengrün befindet sich auf der Balustrade der Kirchenempore wo die Kirchenorgel steht eine Figurenansammlung von Jesus Christus, eingerahmt von seinen 12 Aposteln. Die Figuren haben eine Höhe von rund 40 cm und sind stilvoll bearbeitet. Auf der Unterseite ist der jeweilige Name zu erkennen.
According to the New Testament, Simon Peter (* in Galilee, date unknown, † around 65-67, possibly in Rome) was one of the first Jews who called Jesus of Nazareth to succeed him. He is portrayed there as the spokesman of the disciples, apostles, first confessor, but also deniers of Jesus Christ, second male witnesses of the Risen One (John 20: 3-6) and one of the leaders of the primitive Jerusalem community. In addition there are much later notes to various church fathers, according to which he was the first bishop of Antioch, as well as the founder and head of the community of Rome, and was there treated as a martyr.

The figure St. Simon
Inside the Catholic village church at Newgreen, Franconian Forest exists and is located on the balustrade of the church temples where the church organ stands a figurine collection of Jesus Christ, framed by his 12 Apostles. The figures have a height of about 40 cm and are stylishly worked. The name can be seen on the bottom.
