It has three stories, including a high, raised basement, and is constructed of brick. Parapet walls demarcating the corners and entrance bays break the flat roofline. The school is oriented to the south, and is situated on Third East Street between Van Buren and Adams Streets, two blocks south of the Fort Russell historic district, which was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1980."
