Edward Crandall, born July 4, 1794, died by drowning in the early summer of 1821. His sandstone grave marker features the relief sculpture of an urn in the lunette and the following inscription which includes a quote from the English poet Edward Young:

To the
memory of
EDWARD son of
Mr. LEVI and
Mrs. AUPHIA
CRANDALL
who was drowned
June 26th 1821
aged 27 years

No warning given unceremonious fate
A sudden rush from life's meridian joys
A wrench from all we love ! from all we are
