A fire caused by an arson attack in 1963 destroyed the roof and much of the interior. The church was re-consecrated in 1964 with a new interior, toilet, kitchen, additional rooms and a magnificent East Window by Patrick Rentiens, who made the Baptistery window in Coventry Cathedral.
A commemorative plaque and a new consecration cross are on the east wall by the entrance.

The plaque reads:
'This church was
destroyed by fire
on 7 January 1963

Reconsecrated
17 September 1964'
Type of Historic Marker: Plaque
