At the 'Mühlheimer Straße' in front of the town hall in Empfingen, Germany, Baden-Württemberg can a so-called 'Narrenbaum' (Fools' Tree) annually be found for the time of 'Fasnet' (Carneval).
The Narrenbaum consists of a huge decorated tree with a heigt of about 15 meters. It is placed each year by the local carneval club 'Narrenzunft Empfingen'.
The Narrenbaum is on display each year for the time of 'Fasnet' (Carneval), which starts on 6th January and ends 40 days before easter at the beginninmg of the 'Fastenzeit' (Lent) at Ash Wednesday.
This is an old tradition in this part of Germany.
There are also multicolor textiles fixed over the streets.
