The memorial takes the form of a stone calvary
on an octagonal section stone column. The column is mounted on an octagonal
plinth containing the carved inscriptions and the names of the fallen. The
whole stands on a two step octagonal base.
The inscription on the front face of the memorial reads
IN PROUD AND GRATEFUL
MEMORY OF THE MEN
OF THIS PARISH WHO
DIED FOR THEIR
COUNTRY
IN THE GREAT WAR
1914-1918
THEIR NAMES LIVETH
FOR EVERMORE
The names of the fallen are distributed across the other
sides of the plinth. Names of the fallen of WWII are written on the opposite
side to the inscription. Additionally the names of those killed in an air raid
on Masham in WWII are inscribed on one of the rear
panels.
