The RCAF took delivery of seven Sikorsky H-5 Dragonfly helicopters in 1947. Originally intended for training and experimentation, all were transferred into the Search and Rescue role.
The fleet was retired in 1964 and sold off to civilian interests.
9601 was acquired and restored by the Museum in 2014.
