The trail system consists of a total of six separate trails, all interconnceted. Though the Mount Nelson Trail is the shortest of the group, at 1.5 kilometres, from it one may directly access three of the other five trails and indirectly, the entire system. At 26.7 kilometres in total length, walking the entire system provides a pretty good workout.
The various trails are rated easy, moderate, hard or difficult, depending upon the terrain they cross, with some completely flat and some with fairly steep grades. Some of the trails are also variable in length, with optional loops and extensions. So, in Invermere it's not necessary to fire up the car and drive to some remote location just to find good, well marked and maintained walking trails. They're right in town, awaiting your footsteps
