LT0191 - USC&GS 'R 257' BM - Lassen County, CA - U.S. Benchmarks on Waymarking.com

I recovered this U.S. Coast & Geodetic Survey benchmark from 1935 in good condition. This disk is also listed on a topography map as 'BM 5483'. The NGS datasheet description is adequate for station recovery although the original wooden witness post is gone. My more accurate coordinates will place you very close to this mark.

DESCRIBED BY NATIONAL GEODETIC SURVEY 1940 24.2 MI N FROM SUSANVILLE. 24.2 MILES NORTH ALONG THE ROAD LEADING TO BIEBER FROM THE POST OFFICE AT SUSANVILLE, LASSEN COUNTY, AT A 48-INCH TWIN IRON-PIPE CULVERT, IN THE TOP OF THE SOUTH END OF THE EAST CONCRETE HEADWALL, 12 FEET EAST OF THE CENTERLINE OF THE ROAD, AND NEAR A WHITE WOODEN WITNESS POST. A STANDARD DISK, STAMPED R 257 1935.
