LT0196 - USC&GS 'N 257' BM - Lassen County, CA - U.S. Benchmarks on Waymarking.com

I recovered this U.S. Coast & Geodetic Survey benchmark from 1935 in very poor condition as the concrete post has crumbled away leaving the disk exposed and easy to remove. This disk is also listed on a topography map as 'BM 5120'. The NGS datasheet description is adequate for station recovery. My more accurate coordinates will place you very close to this mark.

DESCRIBED 1968 27.7 MI N FROM SUSANVILLE. 27.7 MILES ALONG HIGHWAY 139 FROM THE JUNCTION OF MAIN STREET AND HIGHWAY 139 IN SUSANVILLE, AT POST MILE 27.67 ON THE EAST SIDE OF EAGLE LAKE, APPROXIMATELY 0.1 MILE SOUTH OF THE BEGINNING OF A CURVE TO THE NW AND 52 FEET EAST OF THE CENTER LINE OF THE HIGHWAY. A STANDARD DISK STAMPED N 257 1935, SET IN A CONCRETE POST PROJECTING 10 INCHES ABOVE GROUND AND MARKED WITH A METAL POST AND SURVEY MONUMENT SIGN.
