MW0272 - USC&GS 'W 506' BM - Lookout, CA - U.S. Benchmarks on Waymarking.com

I recovered this U.S. Coast & Geodetic Survey benchmark from 1954 in good condition. This disk is also listed on a topography map as 'BM 4162'. The NGS datasheet description is adequate for station recovery. My more accurate coordinates will place you very close to this mark.

DESCRIBED BY COAST AND GEODETIC SURVEY 1954 0.8 MI NW FROM LOOKOUT. 0.8 MILE NORTHWEST ALONG A GRAVELED ROAD FROM THE POST OFFICE AT LOOKOUT, 0.4 MILE SOUTHEAST OF THE SUMMIT OF A GRADE, ON THE OUTSIDE OF A CURVE, 46 FEET SOUTH OF THE CENTER LINE OF THE ROAD, 10 1/2 FEET NORTHEAST OF A 36-INCH JUNIPER TREE, 2.6 FEET EAST OF A WITNESS POST, ABOUT 1 FOOT HIGHER THAN THE ROAD, AND SET IN THE TOP OF A CONCRETE POST PROJECTING 0.4 FOOT ABOVE THE GROUND.
