An ax is a tool made of a metal (mostly steel) blade (or iron) and initially made of cut stone, attached to a wooden handle. It is most often used to cut wood; Which is the case here, since it is the museum of woodmen. This one is enormous and is "planted" in the roof of the building. You can see it from the road
