První písemná zmínka o kostele pochází z roku 1364, ovšem vzhledem ke gotickému jádru budovy lze usuzovat, že pochází již ze 13. století.
K puvodnímu gotickému kostelu byla ve 14. století na severovýchodní strane pristavena kaple. V následujících stoletích nekolikrát kostel prestavován. Nejpodstatnejší prestavba probehla v letech 1802 a 1840.
