In North Kingstown, within Veterans Memorial Park, is this individual memorial for Lt. Matthew Coutu.
Veterans Memorial Park is located along Boston Neck Road, about a quarter mile southeast of an arch bridge in the village of Wickford, on the right.
The memorial is along a sidewalk within the park. There is a concrete walkway from the main path to the monument.
The monument is a dark granite slab on a lighter granite pier on a base. The assembly is about two feet high.
The face has the following text:
"In memory of Lieutenant Matthew S. Coutu, U.S. Army
who made the ultimate sacrifice for
his country in Operation Iraqi Freedom
6 Nov 1981 - 27 Jun 2005
