Here, on the side of the street, the hooks of the ridge beam from the roof of the room are also preserved. The reconstructed Wehrgang passes by today. The originally three-storey gate tower, which is now only two-storey, on a rectangular ground plan, dates back to the beginning of the 14th century. In 1898, the hipped roof was lost, and soon the top floor was broken. During refurbishment work in 1907-09, the tower was shortened by one storey shortened, which is why the Gusserker and the Abortanlagen are missing. This tower helmet was also rebuilt after the destruction of the war in 1950. Inside, the stone staircase and a chimney were also renovated.
At this point, I would like to point out that all gate towers have the comforts of open fireplaces, usually even on every floor.
The barrel-arched passageway is also open on the field side with double - for the fall gate and with a simple pointed arch. The upper stop bar of the double-leaf door is only available here, in which a round recess for the upper door anchors can be seen on both sides. The grabenes could be secured over two rows. A special feature of the Heisterbachertor are the battle-stones of the outer double arch decorated with wine-leaves, the weathered ending could have shown the Jülich Löwen. "
