Rebuilding an Ecosystem explains the importance of protecting this area vital to preserving the aquatic and wildlife in this region surrounding the Arrow Lakes. Spawning Kokanee, Bull and Rainbow Trout were adversely effected by the constructions of several dams along the Arrow Lake system.
The ferry crossing of Arrow Lake is a free service. You can cross either at Shelter Cove south of Revelstoke or from Galena Bay which is about 50 km north of the Nakusp.
There is a nice rest area to have that picnic, stretch your legs or just relax, watch the ferry land and enjoy the views.
There are restrooms, picnic tables and benches, nice grassy areas and large shade trees for those hot summer afternoons.
