Dorothy Lake is an ideal location for the Painted Turtles. In June and July they lay from 6 to 18 eggs and hatch in about 72 days.

They hibernate during the winter in the mud around the lake and once the lake warms they become active again.

Though we have seen Painted Turtles in other similar locations in British Columbia, we did not see any when we were there in April.
