The viewing deck provides excellent viewing for a diversity of waterfowl. Reflection Lake is part of the Columbia Wetlands, a fly path for migrating birds. There are hundreds species of birds that use the Columbia Wetlands for nesting and feeding some included are: bald eagles, great blue herons, pileated woodpeckers, snowy owls, trumpeter swans song birds and Canadian Geese.
The Columbia Wetlands is the fourth largest watershed in North America stretching from Columbia Lake to Donald. The Columbia River flows into Columbia Lake meandering south into Washington and continues west bordering Washington and Oregon until reaching the Pacific Ocean.
