Invasive plant species is a major problem throughout British Columbia and the rest of Canada.
Invasive plants are aggressive and can permanently alter ecosystems, impact natural resources and can cause the extinction of native species.
These invasive plants were most likely unintentionally brought in on unclean boats, discarded plant materials and because of beautiful flowers some were brought unlawfully into British Columbia from areas around the world.
There are other non-plant species that are adversely affecting rivers, lakes and streams.
