Small and inconspicuous Church of St. John the Baptist (Kostel Sv. Jana Krtitele), currently parish church of Kolín Orthodox community, belongs despite the late-Baroque appearance (18th century) among the oldest buildings in the town (founded ca 1300).
Church, constructed on the turn of 13th century, was rebuilt several times (1589, 1654 and 1747). Its late-Baroque look is a result of the last principal reconstruction, when the Gothic stone tower was removed and church obtained a new facade, roof with turret and windows. St. John the Baptist is rectangular single nave structure with square presbytery and Baroque entrance portal in its western wall. Western wall, nowadays the church's front facade, is finished by a tiered Baroque gable with two decorative obelisks and niche with St. John the Baptist sculpture, lined by chambranle. The church' walls are segmented by lesene frames and profiled gutter cornice surrounding whole building. Nave is broken by Baroque windows in its northern and southern wall. The presbytery has Gothic pointed windows. Valuable is church's Baroque furniture (pulpit, altar etc.).
Originally Roman Catholic church is used by Orhtodox community in Kolín from 1952 with regular services in Sundays 10 AM (priest Zoran Drenovac, M.Sc.).
