Rhein-Traumpfad Höhlen- und Schluchtensteig wandern
Mächtige Felswände, zu erforschende Trasshöhlen, Urwaldatmosphäre in der Wolfsschlucht mit einzigartigem Wasserfall und sprudelnde Quellen am Wegesrand. Beeindruckend der Wechsel zwischen verträumten Bachtälern und Panoramablicken.
Direkt nach dem Start am Parkplatz bei der K 57 öffnet sich der erste Panoramablick in Richtung Pöntertal. Feldwege führen durch die weite Flur mit immer neuen Ausblicken vorbei an knorrigen Obstbäumen zum Abstieg ins idyllische Krayerbachtal. Wogendes Schilf und üppige Hecken säumen den Weg hinab zur Krayermühle. Wasserläufe begleiten den Wanderer ins tief eingeschnittene Pönterbachtal. Alsbald führt der Weg steil nach oben bis zum Schützenhaus, kurz danach lohnt ein Abstecher zum Aussichtspunkt „Schweppenburgblick“. Der weitere Verlauf wird durch schöne Aussichten auf die Vulkanlandschaft geprägt.
Entlang einer Hangflanke geht es mit dem Hermann-Löns-Pfad steil abwärts zum Gasthaus Jägerheim. Dort unterquert der Weg das mächtige Viadukt, läuft über eine Wiese durch die mannshohen begehbaren Trasshöhlen. Trasswände und die Reste des Klosters Tönisstein lassen sich am Wegesrande entdecken, bevor es in die Wolfsschlucht geht. Tolle Felsformationen, Urwaldatmosphäre, sprudelnde Quellen im Bachbett und sogar ein Wasserfall werden geboten.
Weiter geht es über die L 113 am Waldrand entlang leicht bergan zur Römerquelle, aus der CO2 haltiges Wasser mit leichtem Schwefelgeruch sprudelt. Der Weg schwenkt in ein ruhiges Seitental vorbei an einer weiteren sprudelnden Quelle und dann nach links über einen ansteigenden Waldweg auf ein Hochplateau, das den imposanten „Siebengebirgsblick“ offenbart. Alsbald wird der Ausgangspunkt erreicht.

Rhine-Traumpfad cave and gorge trail
Mighty rock walls, caves to be explored, jungle atmosphere in Wolfsschlucht with a unique waterfall and bubbling springs along the edge of the trail. Impressive change between dreamy Bachtalern and panoramic views.
Directly after the start at the parking lot at the K 57, the first panorama view opens in the direction of Pöntertal. Through the wide corridor, field paths lead with ever-new vistas past gnarled fruit trees to the descent into the idyllic Krayerbachtal. Weaving reeds and lush hedges line the path down to the Kraymühle. Watercourses accompany the hiker into the deeply cut Pönterbach valley. Soon the trail leads steeply up to the Schützenhaus, shortly afterwards a detour to the viewpoint "Schweppenburgblick" is worthwhile. The further course is characterized by beautiful views of the volcanic landscape.
Along a slope flank, the Hermann-Löns Trail descends steeply downhill to the Gasthaus Jägerheim. There, the path crosses the mighty viaduct, runs across a meadow through the man-made walk-through trass caves. Trass walls and the remnants of the monastery of Tönisstein can be found on the edge of the path, before it goes into the Wolfsschlucht. Great rock formations, jungle atmosphere, bubbling springs in the brook bed and even a waterfall are offered.
Continue along the L 113 along the edge of the forest, slightly uphill to the source of the Romans, from the CO2 containing water with light sulfur smell bubbles. The path swings into a quiet side valley, past another source of bubbling springs and then to the left over an ascending forest path to a high plateau, which reveals the imposing "Siebengebirgsblick". The starting point is reached immediately.
