This wooden bench has five wooden slats for the seat, and another five for the backrest. The curved metal legs are bolted to a concrete slab.
The etched rectangular stainless steel plaque is screwed to the 2nd top backrest slat, and the wooden slat has had a section chiseled out enough to recess the plaque. The plaque reads:

Loving Husband, Father & Grandfather.

Member of the Rotary Club of Laurieton"
An item in "Rotary Club of Port Macquarie Sunrise" (Vol 2, #8) reads:
"PP Vince Beecher OAM
Rotarian Vince Beecher from the Rotary Club of Laurieton was awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia in the General Division. His OAM was for service to the community for Camden Haven particularly Meals on Wheels and Rotary International. Vince has been a member of the Laurieton for 28 years and served as president 1978-79. in 1988, he was awarded the Hastings Councils Australia Day Citizen award." (
