The centre of Georgetown, Penang Island, is an historic site, in fact a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and if filled with elderly buildings, cheap hotels (for cheap charlie travellers), and lots of interesting things to see.
This classy in appearance grand building dates back to the era of British rule, and looks to be in excellent condition. it is dated to 1925. Originally, no doubt, it held a grand purpose, most likely banking, but now it houses a series of small shops on the ground floor.
The street number (37b) is engraved twice on the lintel. The date itself is accompanied by a "TS" symbol, possibly the initials of the original owner?
