The original station opened 2 July, 1860. It was the terminus of the Great Northern Railway until March 1862, when the rail way was extended to Greta.
"Lochinvar has two side platforms. It is serviced by NSW TrainLink Hunter Line services travelling between Hamilton (Newcastle), Muswellbrook and Scone." [Wiki]
The second platform was added in 1914 (part of track duplication), with extensions and pedestrian overpass built in 2012.
While the station is owned by RailCorp it is operated by NSW TrainLink.
