The weather vane is situated on the bell tower of the former school located on School Lane in Marbury. The bell can still been seen in the tower. The black metal weather vane has decorative 3D leaves below a decorative banner type pointer.
The old school has been converted into three residential properties.
A charity school was founded in Marbury churchyard in 1688, and remained on that site until 1824. The school had moved to Wrenbury Road in 1825.
This former school opened on School Lane in 1871.
The school was built on land donated by Cudworth Halsted Poole. It was designed by the architect Thomas M. Lockwood and constructed by builder S.Sutton.
The dated stone plaque is inscribed as follows;
