Golden Community Cemetery is very well maintained by the Town of Golden and is located at the south end of 14th Avenue South.

Golden Municipal Cemetery was first opened to burials in 1894 when the Golden Pioneer Cemetery no longer had space for burials. The cemetery was originally a community effort and several church's cared for it but the cemetery today is under the ownership of the Town of Golden. The cemetery is in good condition and currently has 1,215 known interments.
There are some very interesting old headstones with some of the burial sites encased in concrete typical of most old cemeteries. It is believed this was done to be protected from grave robbers.
The cemetery is about 5 acres and is surrounded by chain link fencing. Nestled among tall pine trees it is restful and comforting.

Burials in this cemetery range from 1894 to the present and many of older graves were either not marked at the time of burial or the grave markers have since been lost due to age and decay. A project to recognize all of the people buried in the cemetery between 1894 and 1960 was taken on by the Golden Museum in 2015 and the names of more than 480 individuals were found while researching death records and obituaries. The project stopped at 1960 because that was when the Town of Golden took over the record keeping. They are remembered here.
