Noted architect Alfredo Taylor remodeled an older church on this site from 1924 to 1925 to create one of his greatest architectural achievements. The existing frame structures of the rectory and the church were enhanced with an exterior layer of stucco. The rest of the rectory remained essentially unchanged. It has a square footprint with a high hip roof and tall chimney.
The church, however, underwent considerable change. It now has a a large square tower with a peaked roof. The façade is made of rubble stone which gradually morphs to stucco as it ascends to the tower. The use of rubble stone and stucco is a hallmark of Alfredo Taylor's work. The church now appears to exhibit Spanish Colonial architecture.
The Church of the Immaculate Conception was placed on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places in 1982.
