The history of the Catholic church of Breitenbach dates back to the 12th century. The first church was located in Rohr at the northern egde of town and was shared by the inhabitants of Breitenbach and Brislach. In 1803, Brislach became its own parish, so that in 1845 the new church of Breitenbach was built in the village center. This church was replaced in 1966 by the current one, which was planned by the renowned architects Förderer, Otto and Zwimpfer.
DE: Die Pfarrkirche St. Margaretha dominiert mit ihren aussergewöhnlichen Kirchturm den zentralen Dorfplatz von Breitenbach. Das unregelmässige polygonale Betongebäude bildet mit einigen Nebenbauten eine verschachtelte Einheit.
Die Geschichte der katholischen Kirche von Breitenbach geht auf des 12. Jahrhundert zurück. Die erste Kirche stand in Rohr am nördlichen Dorfrand und wurde von den Bewohneren von Breitenbach und Brislach gemeinsam genutzt. 1803 wurde Brislach eine eigene Pfarrei, so dass 1845 die neue Kirche von Breitenbach im Dorfzentrum erbaut wurde. Diese Kirche wurde 1966 durch die heutige ersetzt, die von den renommierten Architekten Förderer, Otto und Zwimpfer geplant wurde.
