Memorial to Captain Christopher Goddard Jackson of the 7th Dragoon Guards.
Attached to the 6th Inniskilling Dragoons, he was killed on patrol duty 16th december 1899, during the second Boer War, near Arundel.
A wall mounted white marble tablet with a black veined marble pattress, square at base & pitched at top. Black lettering with a relief above the tablet of helmet & sword in scabbard. Unidentified shield at base.
Inscription -
IN MEMORY OF/ CAPTAIN CHRISTOPHER GODDARD JACKSON,/ OF THE 7TH DRAGOON GUARDS,/ HE VOLUNTEERED FOR ACTIVE SERVICE IN SOUTH AFRICA, / AND WAS ATTACHED TO THE 6TH INNISKILLING DRAGOONS,/ WAS KILLED ON PATROL DUTY/ 16TH DECEMBER 1899, NEAR ARUNDEL/ AND BURIED AT NAAWPOORT, CAPE COLONY,/ AGED 27 YEARS,/ HE WAS THE FOURTH SON OF W.G. JACKSON, OF THIS PARISH.
