[FR] Le musée est inauguré par le ministre de la culture Frédéric Mitterrand et ouvert au public le 24 juin 2010. La demeure est constituée de trois pièces : le grand salon au rez-de-chaussée, la chambre et le bureau au premier étage ; ils sont tels que Cocteau les a laissés à sa disparition, avec meubles, objets de décoration, photos, manuscrits, lettres, journaux… La salle d’exposition temporaire de 100 m2 présente tour à tour les 500 œuvres (sur environ 3 000 au total) dont l’association « Maison de Jean Cocteau » est dépositaire : portraits de Jean Cocteau réalisés entre autres par Warhol, Modigliani, Picasso, Buffet… et œuvres de Cocteau des peintres Picasso, Warhol, Blanche, Man Ray et Cocteau lui-même.
[EN] In 2002 the businessman and philanthropist Pierre Bergé purchased the house, with the assistance of the Regional Council of the Essonne and the French Ministry of Culture, and began an extensive campaign of restoration between 2005 and 2010. The house was opened to the public by the French Minister of Culture, Frédéric Mitterrand , on June 24, 2010.
The rooms of the house have been recreated as they appeared during Cocteau's residence, with his collections of art works, furniture and souvenirs.
In the hallways of the first floor are displayed paintings, graphics and posters by or about Cocteau's. They include a page from the original hand-written script of his 1946 film Beauty and the Beast and a poster from his film Orpheus.
