Jackson County News

David Winters and Corey Mullins of Enhanced Space, an art company out of Austin, have been working tirelessly on the a mural on the east-facing wall of the Texana Center for the Arts. Winters, who owns the company, has a B.F.A. from the University of Texas at Austin and has done work for clients such as Whole Foods.

The Arts Council calls it the Branding Wall, a nod to the agricultural roots that are such a large part of Jackson County’s culture. All Jackson County residents who have a registered brand were given an opportunity to have it immortalized on the wall. Arts Council President Carol Arter found the pair online, along with other talented artists and the Council liked that they were from Texas, as well as being in awe of their talent, according to Arts Council member Kelly Aimone.

While an official unveiling isn’t yet scheduled, Aimone said the finished product should be viewable very soon. “The Council is excited to see the brands going up on the wall and showcasing the history of the county,” said Aimone, “It is exciting to see everyone’s hard work coming together and to add an artistic flair and some history to our downtown.”

Arts Council member Shelley Srp said they are very pleased with how it is coming along. “I?think it just looks fantastic,” she said, “The brands are such a great asset to downtown Edna.”

The wall is set to be finished on Friday, March 24. An unveiling party will follow in the coming weeks.
