MW0198 - USC&GS 'A 505' BM - Modoc County - CA - U.S. Benchmarks on Waymarking.com

I recovered this U.S. Coast & Geodetic Survey benchmark from 1954 in good condition. This was a fun find for me mainly because I was only going off the datasheet description since there is no witness post, this disk doesn't appear on a topography map (like most do in this area) and the posted GPS coordinates are not the most accurate (but not bad). I got very lucky after a 10-minute search. Most of the datasheet is now obsolete: The road .15 miles to the north has been abandoned and impossible to see; the tree mentioned with the timber sale sign is gone since there has been much logging in the area over the decades; and I also believe the highway has been re-aligned since the 1954 log because the disk was found less than 80 feet from the road and much higher than 5 feet above the highway (more like 15 feet now). The boulder is located on top of and east of the road embankment. I'm using the posted NGS coordinates which should place you in the general area.
