I recovered this U.S. Coast & Geodetic Survey benchmark from 1940 in good condition. The original wooden witness post has been replaced by a metal witness post, aiding in an east recovery. This mark is also listed on a topography map as 'BM 4545'. The NGS coordinates should place you reasonably close to this mark.

DESCRIBED BY COAST AND GEODETIC SURVEY 1940 19.7 MI NW FROM CANBY. 19.7 MILES NORTHWEST ALONG THE CANBY-KLAMATH FALLS HIGHWAY FROM THE JUNCTION WITH U.S. HIGHWAY 299 AT CANBY, MODOC COUNTY, 110 FEET NORTHWEST OF CONCRETE CULVERT 1048+60, 50 FEET NORTHEAST OF THE CENTERLINE OF THE HIGHWAY, AND AT A WHITE WOODEN WITNESS POST. A STANDARD DISK, STAMPED V 602 1940 AND SET IN THE TOP OF A CONCRETE POST.
