This Victorian Gothic style station includes a well detailed platform shelter, featuring timber columns topped with decorative cast iron brackets. It is constructed of local rose red bricks from the Wellington Brick Kiln & is painted in colours common to other stations throughout the state.
The roof sheltering the platform was added in 1888 in conjunction with the construction of the Refreshment Rooms and the Hotel. The roof is corrugated iron, painted, and supported by twelve timber columns with screw fixed iron base plates. The era of steam locomotives was when the station was at its busiest. The introduction of diesel locomotives & improved roads saw the station go into decline & in 1967 the Refreshment Rooms & Hotel were demolished.
There is presently one passenger train, the daily XPT, to and from Sydney and a goods train once a week. The station is unmanned.
