This 1936 centennial monument-style historic marker stands at the southwest corner of the US Post Office in La Grange, where the first US postal route in Texas was established in 1899.
The marker reads as follows:
"Authorized effective August 1, 1899. La Grange, Fayette County.
Erected by the State of Texas
1936
