Kwaatsi is a large sculpture and his story is tied into several other pieces in the garden. His head and tail are of rusted steel while his body is concrete. The body forms the curbing of a small picnic area while the tail is a few feet away, hidden in a bush as all good rattlesnakes would do. The tail is comprised of a number of metal drums loaded onto a heavy spring. The drums are succeedingly smaller in diameter, resembling the rattles of a snakes tail. Each drum contains a few iron balls so that a rattling noise is produced if the drums are rotated or shaken. Each drum rattles a different tone. Although the piece is not credited to him, it came from the studio of Joe Tyler, according to his website. A plaque near his tail reads, "Kwaatsi wasn't like other rattlesnakes. When he rattled his tail he wasn't warning anyone, he was making music. So every moonlit night, when the crickets chirped and the coyotes howled, he joined in, shaking and shaking his rattle. We are, he thought, the best musicians in the Sonoran desert."
