The DANA (the name being derived from "delo automobilní nabíjené automaticky" (gun on truck loaded automatically)) is a wheeled self-propelled artillery piece. It is also known as the Samohybná Kanónová Houfnice vzor 77 (ShKH vz. 77) (self-propelled gun howitzer model 77); and was designed by Konštrukta Trencín and built by ZTS Dubnica nad Váhom in the former Czechoslovakia (now Slovakia). Introduced in the 1970s it was the first wheeled 152 mm self-propelled artillery gun to enter service. It is based on a modified 8x8 Tatra 813 chassis with excellent cross-country mobility. Currently it is in service with the Czech Republic, Libya, Poland, Georgia and Slovakia.

A 152 mm self propelled gun howitzer, model 77 DANA, is highly efficient artillery weapon with auto loading. Its task is the artillery support of other military units. It is based on a modified Tatra 815 chassis. It has got a high-quality crew protection and fast shooting preparation. The transition from the march to the firing position lasts 2 minutes, the other way round 1 minute. The loading automat has got 36 charges; the total transported number is up to 60 charges. The vehicle has got 3 cabs. The commander and driver sit in the front cab, the gunner and the loader in the left part of the turret and the ammo handler is on the right side turret. All the cabs are armored, hermetically sealable and air-conditioned with a supply of filtered air. To the protection of the vehicles serves - apart of the weapons of the crew - RPG-7 and 12.7 mm Degtyaryov-Shpagin Large-Caliber modern version anti-aircraft machine gun. At time of its creation, this šelf propelled gun howitzer belonged to the absolute top worldwide in its class and up to this day it is still part of many armies.


This gun howitzer is located in the Museum on the Demarcation line in Rokycany. The Museum on the Demarcation Line in Rokycany is the biggest non-state museum in the Czech Republic. Its founder and operator is the Czech Army Land Forces Foundation. It is focused on vehicles and combat equipment, outfit and armament of the Czechoslovakian army till 1938, the Anti-Hitler coalition and the German armed forces of the last days of the 2nd world war on the Demarcation line added by the outfit and armament of the Czechoslovakian people´s army.
