Mit dem 250. Jahrestag der Befreiung Wiens von der osmanischen Belagerung feierte man 1933 in Klosterneuburg auch die damit in Zusammenhang stehende erfolgreiche Verteidigung der eigenen Stadt. Von der örtlichen "Urania" ging zu diesem Anlass die Initiative zum Bau eines Denkmals aus, woraus am Ende mit Verspätung der Türkenbrunnen an der Hundskehle in heutiger Gestalt hervor ging.

The 250th anniversary of the liberation of Vienna from the Ottoman siege was celebrated in Klosterneuburg in 1933 as well as the successful defense of the city itself. On this occasion, the local "Urania" started an initiative to build a memorial, which led with some delay to the Turks fountain in its current shape.
