Das John F. Kennedy-Denkmal befindet sich an der Ecke Godesberger Allee/Kennedyallee in Bonn. Die Statue besteht aus Weiberner Tuff und wurde 1989 von den Kölner Bildhauern Herm-Jörg Barner (*1956) und Marlene Dammin (*1941) gefertigt. In Auftrag gegeben wurde sie von den Architekten Dirk Denninger (1928-2002) und Dorothee Fiedler-Denninger. Die am 15. November 1989 aufgestellte Steinstatue ist realistisch gestaltet und mit einer Höhe von 2,20 Meter überlebensgroß. Sie steht auf einem etwa 50 cm hohen Sockel inmitten eines Blumenbeetes. Der Politiker trägt einen Anzug, Hemd, Krawatte und Schuhe und hält seine Arme vor dem Körper verschränkt.

Während seiner Amtszeit als US-Präsident kam John F. Kennedy auf die Einladung des Bundeskanzlers Konrad Adenauer (1876-1967) für drei Tage in die damalige Bundeshauptstadt Bonn. Vom 23. bis zum 25. Juni 1963 führte er nicht nur politische Gespräche, sondern zeigte sich volksnah. In Deutschland genoss er hohes Ansehen und galt als Symbolfigur für den Aufbruch in eine neue Zeit. So trug er sich während seines Besuchs in das goldene Buch der Stadt Bonn ein und hielt von der Rathaustreppe aus eine Ansprache an die Bonner Bürger. Anschließend besuchte Kennedy als erster amerikanischer Präsident West-Berlin, wo er am 26. Juni 1963 in seiner Rede am Rathaus Schöneberg vor rund 1,5 Millionen Menschen seinen berühmten Satz "Ich bin ein Berliner" sagte.

"JFK" ist der einzige Politiker, dem nach dem Zweiten Weltkrieg in Bonn ein Standbild gewidmet wurde. Die besondere Sympathie der Stadt Bonn für John F. Kennedy zeigt sich nicht nur am steinernen Denkmal und der nach ihm benannten Allee. Auch die Rheinbrücke, die Bonn und Beuel miteinander verbindet, wurde nur zehn Tage nach dem Tod des Politikers durch das Attentat am 22. November 1963 in Dallas in "Kennedybrücke" umbenannt.

The John F. Kennedy Memorial is located at the corner of Godesberger Allee and Kennedyallee in the Plittersdorf district of Bonn. The statue consists of "Weiberner tuff" and was made in 1989 by the Cologne sculptors Herm-Jörg Barner (*1956) and Marlene Dammin (*1941). The stone statue, erected on 15 November 1989, is realistic and has a life-size of 2.20 meters. It stands on a base about 50 cm high in the middle of a flowerbed. The politician wears a suit, shirt, tie, and shoes, and holds his arms crossed in front of his body.

During his term as US president John F. Kennedy came to the invitation of the Federal Chancellor Konrad Adenauer (1876-1967) for three days to Bonn. From June 23rd to 25th, 1963, he not only conducted political talks, but also showed himself popular. In Germany, the charismatic politician enjoyed great respect and was regarded as a symbolic figure for a new era. Thus, during his visit to the golden book of the city of Bonn, he took a speech from the "Rathaustreppe" to the citizens of Bonn. Afterwards, Kennedy was the first American president to visit West Berlin, where on 26 June 1963, in his speech at Rathaus Schöneberg, he spoke his famous phrase "I am a Berliner" in front of some 1.5 million people.
