[FR]L’éolienne est installée sur un site situé non loin (à quelques centaines de mètres) du campus de l’UQAT à Rouyn-Noranda. La conception et la construction de cette éolienne d’un genre particulier ont été effectuées dans le cadre d’un projet innovant. L’entreprise Dermond estimait alors être en mesure de produire 12 exemplaires par année, destinée entre autres à alimenter en énergie les communautésisolées du Nunavik. L’éolienne fonctionna alors pendant deux années environ, produisant de l’énergie électrique en quantité satisfaisante. En 2005, elle arrêta de fonctionner et depuis lors, elle n’a pas été diagnostiquée et dépannée. L’éolienne du Cap d’Ours a été pendant de nombreuses années à la merci des intempéries et des vandales.

[EN]The aeolian windmill is installed not far from the UQAT (Université du Québec en Abitibi-Témiscamingue) Rouyn-Noranda campus.The design and construction of the aeolian windmill was done as part of an innovation project. The company Dermond estimated they could produce 12 units per year, destined to supply energy to the isolated communities in Nunavik. The aeolian windmill worked for appoximately two years, producing a satisfactory amount of energy. In 2005 it stopped working and was not repaired. Ever since, the Cap d'Ours aeolian windmill has been at the mercy of the weather and vandals.
