Abergwili War Memorial - Unveiled in November 1921 to commemorate those lost in the 1914-1918 War. The Monument stands in the heart of this historic village of Abergwilli, near the County Town of Carmarthen, South Wales.

The village War memorial Dedicated in November 1921 by the Bishop of Saint Davids, whose Palaces are located in this tiny Village.
The monument takes the form of a 15 feet tall Celtic Cross, standing above a plinth, on a stepped base.
The front honours those from the local area who lost their lives in the First World War 1914-1918.
In the 1940s the monmument was re-dedicated & the details commemorating World War II were added to the plinth on the side of the monument.

'A village war memorial in the form of a rusticated Celtic wheel cross, interlace decoration on its front, south, face set on a tapered block on a square base, all in pale granite, set on a stepped concrete plinth, two steps up. The block is inscribed, in lead inlay, with the names of the fallen of the First World War (south face) and of the Second World War (east face), from Abergwili and District.
The memorial is located on a raised, paved, area to the north side of the old A40 road through the village." Text Source: (
