This tree is located at the Brock University campus in St. Catharines, Ontario. The bench is dedicated to Dr. James A. Gibson, C.M., LL.D. who was the President Emeritus of Brock University.
James Alexander Gibson, who passed away in 2003, was a private secretary to Prime Minister William Lyon Mackenzie King from 1940-1947. In addition to the tree, the Brock University library was named after him as well.
The plaque and tree were placed in Autumn of 1995 by the Canadian Association of Rhodes Scholars.
