As described by the US Coast and Geodetic Survey ("CGS") back in 1969:
"3.8 MILES NORTHWEST [of Kahuku] ALONG STATE HIGHWAY 83 FROM THE KAHUKU PLANTATION COMPANY HEADQUARTERS AT KAHUKU, IN THE TOP AND 1.3 FEET EAST OF THE WEST END OF THE NORTH CONCRETE HEAD WALL OF CONCRETE BOX CULVERT, 18.5 FEET NORTH OF THE CENTER LINE OF THE HIGHWAY, 80 FEET EAST OF POWER POLE 65, 173.5 FEET WEST OF POWER POLE 64, AND ABOUT 1/2 FOOT HIGHER THAN THE HIGHWAY."
While I did not measure the station's distances from the aforementioned power poles, the remainder of the CGS description is pretty accurate and should definitely assist future seekers in finding this benchmark -- alternatively, one can use the gallery images for any future attempt at actual recovery: it's quite easy to find!
The station was recovered in 'decent' condition: it's been painted over but still quite visible -- and the paint could be easily peeled off, if necessary.
The NGS' currently posted coordinates (N 21° 41.779 W 157° 59.944'W) are pretty much in line with my observations. (FYI: the coordinates on www.geocaching.com are quite off and list the BM on the other side of the road, but that's irrelevant at this point since the NGS database has better readings by now).
