As described by the US Coast and Geodetic Survey ("CGS") back in 1969:
"2.25 MILES NORTHWEST [of Kahuku] ALONG STATE HIGHWAY 83 FROM THE KAHUKU PLANTATION COMPANY HEADQUARTERS AT KAHUKU, IN THE TOP OF THE NORTHEAST END OF THE SOUTHEAST CONCRETE ABUTMENT OF A BRIDGE OVER NANAHU STREAM, 16.7 FEET NORTHEAST OF THE CENTER LINE OF THE HIGHWAY, 6.4 FEET NORTH OF THE NORTHWEST END OF A METAL GUARDRAIL, AND ABOUT 1/2 FOOT LOWER THAN THE HIGHWAY."
The CGS description is pretty accurate and should definitely assist future seekers in finding this benchmark -- alternatively, one can use the gallery images for any future attempt at actual recovery.
The station was recovered in good condition. The NGS' currently posted coordinates (N 21° 41.593 W 157° 58.673) are somewhat in line with my observations, although still ~13 feet off my personal readings -- as measured within 10' accuracy and 10+ reading averages. (FYI: the coordinates on www.geocaching.com are even more off from the true location, but that's irrelevant at this point since the NGS database has better readings by now).
Below are some additional facts, per the NGS database (with some editing for length): (
