The memorial for George Herbert Paton is formed by two of the three-lights of a stained-glass window in the South wing of St. Paul's Church.

The two lights of George Herbert Paton’s memorial are those on the left and in the centre depicting Christ walking on the water and St. Peter leaving the boat to go to the Lord respectively.

George Herbert Paton, who perished while trying to save a comrade, was the younger son of George Paton (1834-1900) who was the Chaplain of St. Paul's from 1866-1900.

Capt. George Herbert was aged 24 when he died.

The window’s dedication is as follows:
To Glory of God and in memory of George Herbert Paton drowned in the North Sea 14 November 1894. This window is placed by a number of his friends.

The light on the right, depicting Christ stilling the storm, is in memory of Henry Christian, a chorister who like George Herbert drowned at sea. Henry perished alongside his father and the crew of the ‘Margret’ whilst on their way home from Whitehaven to Ramsey in 1865

The Window was manufactured by Hardman & Co. in Wales and the Artist was R Newbury.
