Here we have a truss bridge just across the Kootenay River from the little community of Skookumchuck. It is known as the Springbrook Bridge.
Waymark Code: WMVKJN

Including the steel girder approaches the bridge is about 370 feet in length. The truss span alone is about 220 feet. Springbrook Bridge is a Parker Through Truss bridge built in the early 1960s, at the time that essentially all the present bridges on Highway 95 were built. As a reference, the bridge and Skookumchuck are about 50 kilometres north up Highway 95 from Cranbrook, the nearest city of any size.

For the benchmark hunters there is a benchmark in the east face of the south abutment at the west end of the bridge, facing the river, about one foot above ground.
Length of Span:
220 feet
