The Rheinsteig a long distance hiking-trail which starts in Bonn and ends near Wiesbaden. The 8th stage of this trails starts in Bendorf-Sayn near the castle of Sayn and the butterfly garden. It first climbs up to the old castle of Sayn and then it crosses the Brexbach and climbs up the Pulverberg to a reconstructed watchtower of the Limes. It continues on the hillside to Vallendar where this leg ends. The complete lenght of the trail is about 13km and the elevation is approx 449m up hill and 447m downhill.
As there is no parking place near the start-point, you can park your car in Vallendar near the railway station and travel to the start-point by bus.
